Owner Assisted Placement
On this page we list horses whose owners, due to various life circumstances, have urgent situations that require the horses be quickly rehomed.
We call this "Owner Assisted Placement," and it is one of the services provided by Curly Horse Rescue, Inc.
to support our wonderful Curly Horse breed, and those who love them.
While each of these horses is in urgent need of finding a new home, they are not rescues.
To inquire about any of the horses listed here, please contact the owner directly.

Randy Jay (ABC 3249)
|
Randy Jay (ABC 3249)
Bay Gelding 14hh 5yrs.
Does all the things a 5 yr old should but no real training. Cannot be ridden due to hip injury.
Randy is a sweet horse that needs a chance. Someone please take him. Free to good home.
He is totally un-ridable due to a problem with his hip which makes him unable to tolerate any weight on his back.
There is no price tag on him, I'm hoping to find him the right home

Warrior Stands Strong
("Chewie")
Gelding DOB 2/22/06
DCC Sioux Warrior x Peanut
*NO beginner/novice horse owners please.
Chewie is a very smart, sweet little horse.
He's an easy keeper, and does well on pasture and hay. He is very solid and correct with a quarter horse type body. He has a very curly mane, tail, and ears, with a very mild body curl in the winter. He does not shed his mane and tail, but he has found a way to rub most of his mane off on tree branches.
We are assuming that he is hypoallergenic just like the other curly horses/curly cross horses at our farm. He is a character too! He follows us around like a puppy. He was super sweet as a colt, but went through a "it's gonna eat me" phase where he was extremely cautious of everything. We decided to not push his training on him at 2, but to see if he'd grow out of it and mature mentally, and it appears he has.
He is now three years old and is a very sweet little guy who craves attention and ear scratches. He is halter broke, and does lead. I can touch him all over, but we are still working on getting him to give us his feet. Any kind of harshness will set him back in his training, but if you are kind and gentle and give him time to investigate new things and decide that they won't eat him, he'll do quite well for you. He can be registered with the ICHO.
Must Sell!

Mighty Mischevious Warrior ("Mighty")
Gelding DOB 10/2/2003
DCC Sioux Warrior x Peanut
Doesn't his name say it all? He is such a ham! He has been "In your back pocket friendly" since the day he was born. He is willing to do anything you ask of him too. I haven't had time to get him under saddle, but he did receive his ground training.
He would make a great pair with his sister who is listed below, in fact it would be nice if they went together. They can't stand to be apart. I never got around to registering him, but he can be registered with the ICHO. He does show hypoallergenic qualities just like his sister, and did show a lot of foal curl, but has outgrown it with the exception of some frizzy looking ears and a ruffled pattern over his flank.
He is an easy keeper and does well on good pasture and hay. He's been fun to work with and if you like a good laugh, he's your gelding! He is mighty mischevious indeed! But he is also mighty loving and super sweet. He loves to figure things out, and is such a fun horse to be around. He stands well tied and stands for the farrier. Shots are no problem for him either.

Star Siouxvenir
("Baby")
Mare DOB 4/16/02
DCC Sioux Warrior x PeanutStar is such a sweet little mare, precious does not even begin to describe her. She is halter broke and has had some of her ground training. She will follow you around like she is your shadow. I have not had time to do much more than do a little longe work and sit on her. Once she finishes her training, I am confident that she will make a wonderful child's pony and an exceptional pony club mount.
She stands somewhere around 14.1 hands high. Although she looks straight and is registered as such, she shows hypoallergenic qualities and sports a ruffled look in her winter coat, which you can see in the picture below.
She and her brother are inseperable and I would like them to go as a pair if possible. She has a more laid back personality than her brother. She just takes it all in stride. She is well put together with a stocky quarter horse pony body, and is an extremely easy keeper. She stays very rotund on good pasture and hay. She stands tied and stands for the farrier. Shots are no problem for her either.

Renegait White Lightning
 |
Renegait White Lightning
2007 North American Curly Horse. 3/4 Missouri Fox Trotter.
Lightning's registration is pending with the North American Curly Horse Registry. We recently had him evaluated by a gaited horse trainer, whose professional opinion is that, with proper training, Lightning is capable of gaiting under saddle.
He has just completed his groundwork and was introduced to the saddle. He will halter, lead, tie, load, and stand for the farrier and for grooming. He will be ready for light saddle training in the spring.
We have sold our ranch and will soon lose our pasture lease. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to board our horses, and can only take a few with us.

Renegait New Beginning
Newbee is a 2009 filly.
She looks so much like her dam, DCC Beginner's Luck, also known as Bee, that we started calling her New Bee, which has become Newbee. She has a sweet temperament, similar to both her dam and her sire, Renegait Bleu Bayou. Newbee has tiny curls all over her body, including her face. She is likely to be homozygous for curl and she is very cute!
Newbee is 3/4 MFT and is eligible for 7/8 ABC registration. Her maternal grandsire is *Star's Lucky Touch, and her paternal grandsire is *Walker's Curly T. Her sire has been gelded, so there will not be any more like her. $600.00

Renegait Robin Hood
Robin was foaled on April 19th, and recently had some ground training. The trainer, who is very impressed with his temperament, said that he should go to a family with kids, because he is "unlikely to get cranky." Although Robin did not get his parents' curls, he may be hypoallergenic.
Robin can be registered as a 3/4 ABCR straight gelding.
His pedigree can be viewed at http://www.curlyhorses.info/Pedigree.asp?u=6257.
We have lost our pasture lease. He needs to be moved immediately. Coggins results pending.
Asking $500.

He has a current negative Coggins. I have only until June 10th to move him. There will be no further extensions on the pasture lease.
He's a cute little guy and deserves a good home. Since I need to move him quickly, his price is negotiable.
